Above Ground Pool Opening Policy

1. Cover Removal and Maintenance

• Minor Water and Debris Removal: Pumping off any standing water and removing leaves or organic matter from the top of the cover.

• Cleaning and Storage: Rinsing the cover with water to prevent odors during summer storage.

• Inspection: Checking the cover and winter hardware (winches, cables, or weighted bags) for wear or damage.

2. Equipment Reassembly & Core Services

• Plug Removal: Removing all winterizing expansion plugs from the return jets and the skimmer.

• Filter System Setup: Reinstalling the pump and filter drain plugs, connecting the hoses or PVC plumbing, and ensuring the pressure gauge and sight glass are in place.

• System Priming: Filling the pump with water and starting the system to check for leaks in the unions or gaskets if water level allows.

• Skimmer Setup: Reinstalling the skimmer baskets and weir doors, if provided.

• Minor Physical Cleaning: A "rough" water skim to remove minor debris that settled during the winter.

  • Mechanical Inspection: A visual inspection of the pool's structural integrity is often included, looking for:

    • Signs of liner shrinkage or shifting.

    • Corrosion on the top rails or uprights.

    • Evaluation of Filter Systems Health.

3. Items that are not included in the base service

• Accessory Installation: Reinstalling ladders, drop-in steps, and handrails.

• Excessive Cover Water Removal - Minimum Additional Fee $50 extra.

• Excessive Debris Removal from Pool - Minimum Additional Fee $50 extra.

• Vacuuming the pool is not included and is an extra charge quoted on site.

4. Customer is responsible for providing

• Chemical Startup: Testing the water and adding a "Start-up Kit," which typically includes:

  • Shock treatment to kill bacteria.

  • Algaecide to prevent immediate blooms.

  • Clarifiers to help the filter catch fine particles.
